Discover the "Essential Caucasus" on a 13-day journey that captures the soul of the region. This itinerary is designed for travelers who want a complete vision of the three countries without extending too much in time, focusing on the most significant and accessible places.
Our journey begins in Bakú, where we will stroll along the Caspian Sea boulevard and explore the walled Old City. We will visit the Gobustan Reserve to see its famous petroglyphs and mud volcanoes. The journey westward takes us to Sheki, a must-stop on the ancient Silk Road, famous for its craftsmanship and royal palace.
Upon crossing into Georgia, we will delve into the Kakheti region to learn about the country's winemaking tradition. We will visit the city of love, Signagi, and the capital, Tiflis. The itinerary stands out for including a visit to the Trinity Church of Gergeti in Kazbegi, situated in a spectacular mountain setting, and to the ancient capital Mtskheta, the spiritual heart of Georgia.
The journey continues southward, entering Armenia. We will visit the monasteries of Haghpat and Sanahin, masterpieces of medieval Armenian architecture. In Ereván, we will discover a city full of life and culture. We will explore the temple of Garni and the monastery of Geghard, famous for its acoustics and its location in a deep canyon. We will also visit the cathedral of Echmiadzin, the religious center of all Armenians. "Essential Caucasus" is a compact but deep experience that leaves nothing important behind.
