Take the "Grand Tour of Georgia" on an epic 10-day journey that begins in Kutaisi. This itinerary is our most comprehensive proposal for those flying to Kutaisi airport, covering the four cardinal regions of the country: the historic south, the capital east, the mountainous north and the coastal west.
History and Mountain
From Kutaisi, we will travel south to explore the cave city of Vardzia and the Rabati fortress. We will continue to Tbilisi to discover the capital. But what makes this tour unique is the inclusion of the remote region of Svaneti. We will travel northwest to see the medieval towers of Mestia and the village of Ushguli, a World Heritage Site, located at the foot of Mount Shkhara.
Ending at the Coast
After the high mountain adventure, we will descend to the Black Sea coast in Batumi for a well-deserved rest, visiting the Dendrological Garden on the way. The journey ends again in Kutaisi. This circular circuit is the definition of "seeing it all", taking the traveler from the deserts and caves of the south to the glaciers of the north and the beaches of the west.

DAY 2: Kutaisi - Bagrati - Motsameta - Gelati - Nikortminda-Kutaisi
Our cultural exploration begins in Kutaisi, first visiting the majestic Catedral de Bagrati. From its privileged location on the hill, we will visually dominate the entire city before moving to a place of spectacular geography: the Monastery of Motsameta. Dramatically located on a rocky promontory surrounded by the Tskaltsitela river, this sanctuary offers an atmosphere of deep spirituality and moving landscapes. DAY 3: Akhaltsikhe - Vardzia - Khertvisi - Tbilisi
Today, we will begin the day exploring the majestic Vardzia, an extraordinary 12th-century rock-hewn monastery-city that will transport us to the past. We will venture into its labyrinthine tunnels to discover unique medieval frescoes and visit its ancient cellars, witnesses to the millennia-old winemaking tradition of the area. We will continue our route towards the imposing Fortaleza Khertvisi, one of the oldest fortifications in Georgia, strategically located in the Samtskhe-Javakheti valley; there we will admire its robust walls and enjoy unparalleled panoramic views. Finally, we will head towards Tbilisi to conclude the day. Although an extensive road journey awaits us, this will become a memorable experience in itself, offering us a continuous visual spectacle. DAY 4: Tbilisi - Guided tour
After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, we will begin our cultural immersion in the vibrant Avenida Rustaveli, the beating heart of Tbilisi. On this elegant boulevard, we will admire architectural gems such as the imposing Parliament and the neo-Moorish Opera Theatre, as well as the distinctive Rustaveli Theatre and the beautiful Kashveti Church. Our tour will then take us to Plaza de Metekhi, where the historic church and the equestrian statue of King Vakhtang Gorgasali will offer us privileged views over the Mtkvari River. DAY 5: Tbilisi - Mtskheta - Uplistsikhe - Gori - Kutaisi
We will leave behind Tbilisi to first visit the ancient capital and religious center of Georgia, Mtskheta. There we will explore its treasures declared World Heritage Sites: the panoramic Jvari Monastery and the sacred Cathedral of Svetitskhoveli. Next, we will travel through ancient history in Uplistsikhe, an impressive Iron Age rock city where we will walk among caves and temples carved into the sandstone rock. Our next stop will be in the nearby city of Gori, where we will visit the Stalin Museum to learn about the birthplace and career of the Soviet leader. Finally, we will continue our journey westward, venturing into the legendary land of Colchis, until reaching Kutaisi, where we will stay.

DAY 6: Kutaisi - Ushguli - Mestia
Today awaits us an epic journey ascending towards the highest peaks of Europe. From Kutaisi, we will embark on the journey towards the remote region of Svaneti until reaching Ushguli, recognized as one of the highest inhabited settlements on the continent (2,200 meters). This cluster of villages, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, seems frozen in time with its dozens of medieval defensive towers. There, under the imposing shadow of Mount Shkhara, the highest peak in Georgia, we will walk along trails that bring us closer to the base of its glacier and share moments with locals who keep alive the ancient Svan culture. We will breathe the pure air of the high mountains and marvel at breathtaking landscapes before descending slightly to end our day in the main town of the region, Mestia, surrounded by history and wild nature.

DAY 7: Mestia - Zugdidi - Dendrological Park - Batumi
We will leave behind the majesty of the snow-capped peaks and the defensive towers of Mestia to embark on a spectacular descent from the Greater Caucasus. The winding road will offer us unforgettable views of deep gorges and rushing rivers until we reach the fertile plains of the Samegrelo region, passing through its capital, Zugdidi. As we approach the coast, we will make an essential stop at the Shekvetili Dendrological Park. This unique space is a sanctuary of biodiversity where we will walk among giant and centuries-old trees, many of them transported by sea in an engineering feat. We will explore its diverse microclimates, crossing bamboo forests and observing exotic fauna like lemurs and pink flamingos in freedom. DAY 8: Batumi - its surroundings
After enjoying a relaxing breakfast at the hotel, we will dedicate the morning to connecting with the cultural roots of the region at the Ethnographic Museum of Batumi. This unique space, work of sculptor Kemal Turmanidze, will captivate us with its impressive wood carvings and recreations that celebrate the soul and traditional customs of Georgia in a visual and artistic way. Subsequently, we will move south to explore the historic Gonio Fortress. In this ancient Roman bastion from the 1st century, we will walk among ruins that whisper stories of the Silk Road and sacred legends, such as the supposed location of the tomb of the Apostle Matthias, all with the Black Sea breeze in the background. To close the day with a cosmopolitan touch, we will return to the heart of the city to tour the center of Batumi.
