Explore the mysticism of the desert in "Eastern Monasteries", a 1-day excursion to the Kakheti region. The main focus is the monastic complex of David Gareja, situated in a semi-desert landscape on the border with Azerbaijan.
Frescoes in the Desert
Founded in the 6th century by one of the Assyrian fathers, this complex has hundreds of cells, chapels and churches carved into the rock. We will walk along the mountain ridge to see the unique frescoes of the Gareja school and enjoy the infinite views towards the plains of Azerbaijan.
The City of Love
The journey continues to the walled city of Signagi, with its cobblestone streets and wooden balconies, offering spectacular views of the Alazani valley. We will also visit the Bodbe monastery, resting place of Saint Nino, the illuminator of Georgia. A day that combines arid landscapes, medieval architecture and deep spirituality.
