The Northern Entry: World Heritage

The adventure begins crossing the Sadakhlo border. Our first stop on Armenian soil takes us to the Lori region, where we will visit the monasteries of Haghpat and Sanahin. These medieval monastic complexes, declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites, are masterpieces of religious architecture and ancient learning centers, situated on plateaus with spectacular views of the Debed river canyon.

Yerevan and the Heart of Armenia

We will continue south, crossing mountain landscapes and skirting Lake Sevan, before arriving at the capital, Yerevan. From our base in the city, we will explore the essential surroundings: the pagan temple of Garni, the rock monastery of Geghard and the Holy See of Echmiadzin with the ruins of Zvartnots.

Detailed Itinerary

DAY 1: Tbilisi - Sadakhlo - Haghpat - Saghmosavank - Ereván

We will bid farewell to Tbilisi to head south towards the border crossing of Sadakhlo. After completing the immigration procedures and entering Armenia, we will be welcomed by the mountainous landscapes of the Lori region. Our first major stop will be the Monastery of Haghpat, a masterpiece of medieval architecture declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where we will explore its ancient gavits and historic atmosphere. We will continue the journey south until we reach the Aragatsotn region to visit the impressive Monastery of Saghmosavank (Monastery of the Psalms). This place will leave us breathless not only for its architecture, but for its dramatic location at the edge of the vertiginous Kasakh River Canyon. Finally, we will complete our journey arriving in Ereván, the vibrant Armenian capital, where we will stay.

DAY 2: Yerevan - City walk Yerevan - Garni - Geghard - Yerevan

We will begin the day immersing ourselves in the vibrant atmosphere of Ereván, one of the world's oldest cities, where past and present coexist in harmony. During our city tour, we will walk through its elegant avenues to admire the fusion of Soviet and neoclassical architecture, stopping at emblematic points such as the majestic Republic Square and the artistic complex of La Cascada, from where we will enjoy panoramic views of the city. Subsequently, we will travel to the outskirts to visit the Temple of Garni, a unique archaeological jewel in the South Caucasus. This 1st-century Hellenistic monument will captivate us not only for its pagan history, but for its natural surroundings, where we can appreciate the impressive basalt formations in the gorge known as the "Symphony of Stones". DAY 3: Yerevan-Tsitsernakaberd-Echmiadzin-Zvartnots-Yerevan

DAY 4: Ereván-Seván-Diliján-Goshavank-Sadakhlo-Tbilisi

The landscape will transform dramatically as we venture into the lush forests of Diliján National Park, a region dubbed "Little Switzerland" for its serene atmosphere and natural beauty. In this green environment we will visit the monastery of Goshavank, an impressive medieval complex founded by scholar Mkhitar Gosh, where history and nature coexist in perfect harmony among ancient stones. We will continue our journey toward the border at Sadakhlo, the meeting point where we will complete the procedures to cross from Armenia to Georgia. After this cultural scenery change, the road will finally guide us to Tbilisi. The arrival at the vibrant Georgian capital will mark the end of a day full of geographical contrasts, connecting two millenary nations in a single journey.
