About this trip
Discover the cradle of wine on the "Alazani Valley Route", a 1 day excursion through the fertile region of Kakheti. This trip is designed for lovers of gastronomy and culture, taking us to the heart of Georgian wine production.
Cathedrals and Fortresses
We will visit the majestic Alaverdi Cathedral, which was the tallest church in Georgia for centuries, surrounded by monastic vineyards. We will also explore the citadel of Gremi, former capital of the kingdom of Kakheti, with its church of the Archangels and its royal tower.
Wine and Tradition
The route includes the town of Kvareli, where we can visit wineries (such as the famous Khareba, excavated in a military tunnel) and learn about traditional wine-making methods in qvevri. We will finish in the city of Telavi, strolling through its market and seeing the palace of King Erekle II. A day dedicated to culture, history and, of course, good wine.
